I miss running. I really do. For a period of about 8 years when I was in my thirties, I was a serious runner. Seriously. I ran half-marathons, 5K’s, you name it. I never went for the full marathon, but in training, I ran close to it. I had a great running partner who is still one of my best friends. We ran together; I also ran solo.
I was able to experience many awesome things when I traveled to various races. Two that stick out in my mind are the Rock and Roll Las Vegas Half-Marathon and the Run Disney Princess Half-Marathon. How many people can say they’ve run the Las Vegas strip at night? What an experience! I can remember finishing up the race, walking back through the Bellagio at 2 in the morning. I can remember running through Cinderella’s castle at 6 in the morning…no one else in the park but us runners. Getting up at 3 AM, because Disney has a very early call time for races. I had so much fun and met so many great people from all walks of life.
As I near my next decade into my 50’s, I miss running and the camaraderie that went with it. These days, I am so crunched for time that I am lucky to get in a long walk from the parking lot into Publix on grocery shopping day. I NEED to make myself be more active and commit to an exercise program again. But it’s hard when your time is spoken for with fulfilling all the roles that being a mom, wife, full-time employee, and caregiver entail.
So, to all 7 of my subscribers (and anyone else who would like to respond:) When do you find time to exercise? How do you get in 30 minutes of physical activity per day? I want to hear from you….so comment on my post and give me some ideas!
