Everyone who knows me knows I love my diet Cherry Cokes. So much so that there is a painting in my office of a diet Cherry Coke can. It was a good-bye gift to me from dear, sweet Margaret; a former student who used to help me in the library. You will rarely see me drinking anything other than a diet Cherry Coke!
In my quest to “do a little better each day” with diet and exercise, I took my doctor’s advice and began drinking more water. Because that’s the number one thing we read about in health news, isn’t it? It always starts with “drink more water.”
I bought one of those water bottles that has the times of the day and little inspirational sayings on it. Stuff like “2:00 PM, almost there!” and “7:00 PM, you’ve got this!” If you want the link to it, here it is: Motivational Water Bottle
HOW DO PEOPLE DO IT?!? I STAYED in the potty. I learned after the first day to lay off the water after 7:00 PM. That wasn’t a fun night of getting up to pee every 30 minutes.
I have only practiced the water regimen a couple of times this week. I know I’m going to have to get used to it. The water is making me feel more hydrated. And let’s face it, ice water IS about the only thing that gets my hot flashes to calm down.
I want to practice healthier habits. This is step one of doing that. I’m not giving up on my diet Cherry Cokes cold turkey. I mean, how would the Coca-Cola Company survive without my faithful patronage?!?
