Only the Lonely…

“Being lonely is not being alone; it’s the feeling that no one cares.” — Unknown

Every day on Facebook (my social media guilty pleasure,) I see my friends sharing pictures of their kids, vacations, sports events. BUT…I also see lots of posts about depression, anxiety, and loneliness.

Why? Why is everyone so lonely? I know, I know. Most people would say it was the pandemic….but it wasn’t. I was seeing posts like that far before Covid impacted our lives.

It seems that the more connected we get, the more available we are, the more lonely everyone is getting. What can YOU do about it? Well, the next time you see a post from a friend who is all in their feelings, reach out. Give them a call. See if they can meet up for coffee. Because THAT is what we are all missing, friends. The connection that happens when you both laugh at a joke, sympathize over a tough situation, or just go to a scary movie and jump at the same time.

My challenge to you is to reach out to someone this weekend. It could be your mom, your cousin, a friend you haven’t actually seen in a while. You might just get an “I’m really busy” text back, but you may get a nice brunch set up so you can catch up, have a few laughs, and not feel so lonely anymore.
